Riley Leonard, 5th grade - representing BMESEthan Hutcheson, 6th grade - representing PLMSSchool Bus Ridership Week: December 8-12McCall-Donnelly School District would like to encourage parents to have their students ride the bus to and from school. The District gets reimbursed by the state for every student who rides the bus. When ridership is low, our reimbursement goes down. Next week (December 8 - 12, 2014) is the State Department of Education’s School Bus Ridership Count Week. During the 2012-2013 school year the district paid $266,000 beyond the state reimbursement due to low rider counts. As more local funds are required to be used for busing students, fewer dollars will be available for other operating expenditures. Please help the District save money. If your students are not currently riding the bus, please contact Harlow’s at 634-1089 to arrange a trial week of transportation. We expect you will appreciate the convenience of using District transportation. Other Reasons to Ride the School Bus While school buses are one of the safest ways to send your kids to school, there are other reasons that make them a growing choice among parents for their children’s school commute. Environmentally friendly reasons to ride the bus: • Less Traffic at the schools • Cleaner Air • More Affordable Transportation For more information visit http://www.nhtsa.gov/School-Buses Information Mission Statement Developing Lifelong Learners Today.
