New State Law, DEA Cracking Down on Synthetic Drug Sellers

State and federal authorities are tackling the growing problem of designer drugs, on two separate fronts.
On Thursday, Minnesota lawmakers trumpeted a new law that makes selling drugs like synthetic marijuana or “bath salts” a felony in the state.
And the feds revealed details about the designer drug raids they conducted around the country on Wednesday, including in Duluth.
First the local angle:
Starting next Wednesday, Aug. 1, those convicted of selling synthetic drugs in Minnesota could face five years in prison. Those who’ve had problems with these chemicals say: not a moment too soon.
